Day 1: Delhi - Agra
The cosmopolitan capital of India, Delhi has sophisticated infrastructure for travel. Agra is nearly 210 km from Delhi and takes nearly 3 hours to reach by road. The resplendent city of Agra is a unique blend of history and modernity. Renowned for its grandiose historical monuments, Agra attracts tourists from all over the world. On reaching Agra check in the hotel. After lunch in the afternoon visit Agra Fort. This fort is a famous UNESCO World Heritage site built on a sprawling 2.5-kilometer stretch along the River Yamuna. Emperor Shahjahan was imprisoned in the Agra Fort by his son Aurangzeb and from here he was able to see the Taj Mahal which he built for his wife, Mumtaz. There are number of buildings including Nagina Masjid, Sheesh Mahal, Meena Masjid, Khas Mahal, and Meena Bazar. Visit Sikandra to see the famous mausoleum of Akbar .Then proceed to see the orange glow of sun enveloping the grand Taj Mahal during sunset. Overnight stay in Agra.
Day 2: Agra - Fatehpur Sikri - Agra - Delhi
In the pre dawn hour before the sun makes its presence felt on the city, get in the car to visit the Taj Mahal again at sunrise. You will be stunned at the spectacular scene in the early morning light. The Taj Mahal, a beautiful memorial to Emperor ShahJahan's wife, is an architectural wonder made of pure white marble. It took 22 years to build. Return to the hotel.
Relax and have breakfast. You can venture quickly into the streets and buy some artefacts or souvenirs. Enjoy the bustling markets of Agra with your friends and relatives. Proceed for Fatehpur Sikri which is nearly an hour's drive from Agra. Fatehpur Sikri is one of the splendid examples of Mughal architectural brilliance and is the best example of the blend of Hindu, Persian and Mughal architecture. Few interesting monuments in Fatehpur Sikri are, Buland Darwaza made 54 meters high is the largest gateway in the world..Drive back to Delhi and proceed towards your onward destination.
